CONDITIONS OF ENTRY FOR THE 2010 NORVILL ART PRIZE

1. Artists are
invited to enter the $10,000 Norvill Art Prize for Australian
Landscape painting by sending a high quality digital image or
photograph by July 30th 2010.
2. In the terms of the gift of Peter Norvill OAM and the
Murrurundi District Arts Council Inc (The Arts Council) artists
are invited to submit (subject to the conditions hereunder) a
painting of AUSTRALIAN LANDSCAPE IN ANY MEDIUM OR STYLE for the
Norvill Art Prize 2010. The Prize is the largest privately funded
prize in Australia.
3. The Prize is acquisitive, for $10,000 and for a painting in any
style of, or medium executed since August 2008.
4. $30 entry fee must be paid with the entry form. Forms without
fees will not be accepted. Cheques or money orders are payable to
the Murrurundi District Arts Council Inc. Late entries will not be
accepted. The entry fee is GST inclusive and is not refundable. A
repacking fee of $20 will be charged should this be required on
returning a selected work.
5. All entries must be digital entries and sent by email to
norvillartprize@live.com with details of artist, title, size,
medium, price and date or work.
6. Only one work per artist can be submitted and the statutory
declaration MUST be signed by the artist. Entries to be
accompanied by a typed profile of approximately 300 words of your
career, achievements and inspiration. This profile is for
promotional purposes only.
7. Works must not exceed 1.5 metres in either direction excluding
frames. Hooks and wires must be removed and frames predrilled.
Hooks and wires may be forwarded so wrapped that no damage be done
to any work. A stretched canvas is deemed framed.
8. Paintings to be exhibited will be selected by a single judge.
The decision of the judge is final and no correspondence regarding
this decision shall be entered into. Paintings accepted for the
exhibition will all be viewed by the judge.
9. Successful artists will be notified by telephone or email by
Monday 6th September 2010. Unsuccessful artist will not be
notified.
10. Works selected for exhibition to be delivered to The
Murrurundi District Arts Council Inc at The RSL Memorial Hall, 116
Mayne Street, Murrurundi, NSW, 2338, either personally or by agent
free of all freight charges between Monday 27th September and
Friday 1st October 2010. Delivery times are 10am to 4pm. Return
freight charge to be included with delivery of works to The Arts
Council.
11. All paintings MUST be clearly marked on the back with name of
artist, address, title, size, medium, price and date of work.
12. The Arts Council reserves the right to reproduce the works in
print and electronic media, to advertise The Prize whilst in
custody of The Arts Council.
13. The Arts Council will exercise all reasonable care of all
works submitted, but no responsibility will be undertaken for loss
or damage to any work in their custody. Each artist is responsible
for their insurance for works submitted for exhibition.
14. Paintings will be on display at The RSL Memorial Hall, 116
Mayne Street, Murrurundi, NSW, 2338. No painting is to be taken
from the exhibition prior to 4pm on 7th November 2010. Selected
paintings may be chosen for exhibition after The Prize.
15. The Arts Council will arrange packing of works on receipt of a
$20 packing fee. Works must be collected by the artist or their
agent by end of January 2011. Otherwise The Arts Council will
dispose of the works at their convenience.
16. The winning painting or works on paper shall become the
property of The Murrurundi District Arts Council Inc once the
prize money is paid to the artist.
